Flea Facts
Adult fleas can live up to one year in favorable conditions and can survive at least 2 weeks without a blood meal. Once they reside in your home or on your pet it can take 3 months or more to break the life cycle and become “flea free”.
*Did you know that an adult female flea can lay up to 40 eggs a day!! So if just 1 female flea comes home with you in 60 days your home could have as many as 20,000 fleas “YUCK”
*1 flea bite can cause allergic reactions, they can transmit bacteria and parasites such as tapeworms.
*Severe flea infestations can cause anemia in your pets and this can be life-threatening in young or old animals.
So how can you keep your pets safe from flea infestations?
Use a good quality monthly flea preventative
- Dogs: Credelio, Nexgard, Frontline Plus, PetArmor, Simparica, or Bravecto (which can last up to 12 weeks)
- Cats: Revolutions Plus, Frontline Plus, Advantage Multi or Bravecto (which can last up to 12 weeks)
FUN FACT: Fleas can jump up to 13 inches. That is equivalent to a 5’7″ person jumping 1,100 feet up in the air!
